My name is Edward Johnson, Director of Homelea Building Services. My deep motivation for pursuing a career in the construction industry came from growing up with a family of builders. I had a taste of what the industry was like from a young age. My earliest memory was helping my grandfather build a concrete foundation. I loved being in the thick of it - the wellies up to my knees. He still likes to “supervise” me.
After watching my father start his own construction company in 2003 I was eager to work alongside him and help grow the family business. Upon finishing school, I had already made my decision with what career I wanted to pursue. I started my bricklaying apprenticeship straight out of school. During this time, I took great pride in my building work and learning more about the construction industry.
My clear vision for the end product keeps me on track and ensures I deliver a high standard of work. I get the most satisfaction when the final product is completed and every detail is correct and tidy. Whenever I come across or drive past jobs we have completed in the past, I feel proud that they stand as a testimony to Homelea Building Services.
Keeping in touch with the local area is very important to me, having grown up in it. I have a great appreciation for the beauty in old works and how past craftsmen used to build with real quality - quality that has stood the test of time for generations.
Building styles, materials and finishes are things that I carefully consider before starting any project. Proper planning, careful selection of materials makes sure that the works are in-keeping and future proofed.
